4 Reasons Why Mold Grows On Your Vinyl Siding

By Patrick Juma, Dec 12, 2018

Q: My house was built 23 years ago. In the last couple of years, I have noticed that, some kind of black/brown spots, mold or mildew has formed on the vinyl siding, especially on the north side of the house. What is the cause and how can I clean them off? If it involves chemicals or is physically challenging , can I hire someone to remove them?

Even though vinyl is a durable, versatile and resilient building material, it does require regular care and cleaning. This prevents dirt and other contaminants from building up on the walls. Most experts recommend that vinyl siding should be cleaned once or twice a year.

This is a question we hear so often from our customers despite most of them confessing to using a pressure washer to regularly clean their sidings and windows. The quick and simple answer is; Yes, if the job is done incorrectly. We see numerous homes and buildings that have damaged areas because an unskilled person tried to pressure wash the building.
