Mold on vinyl siding is a common problem that many homeowners face, especially in damp or humid surroundings. Mold thrives in moist environments and can easily grow on vinyl siding if proper maintenance is not performed.

With the winter season gone, this is the perfect time to give your home a fresh look, starting with its outside appearance. The exterior of your home is the first thing people see, and it sets the tone for how you feel about your space.

Yearly cleaning and repair of your home’s siding will extend its life and keep off replacement costs. Washing the siding not only removes the dirt and mildew ,it also protects your investment. In fact, most real estate appraisers say that, good curb appeal can add 5%-10% to the value of your house.

4 Reasons Why Mold Grows On Your Vinyl Siding

By Patrick Juma, Dec 12, 2018

Q: My house was built 23 years ago. In the last couple of years, I have noticed that, some kind of black/brown spots, mold or mildew has formed on the vinyl siding, especially on the north side of the house. What is the cause and how can I clean them off? If it involves chemicals or is physically challenging , can I hire someone to remove them?

Even though vinyl is a durable, versatile and resilient building material, it does require regular care and cleaning. This prevents dirt and other contaminants from building up on the walls. Most experts recommend that vinyl siding should be cleaned once or twice a year.
